Near Picketts Junction in an area called Hope Valley Sierra Nevada Mountains – Underhill Earthworks 2023
In April of 2023 a few friends and I made our annual snowshoe trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was one of those heavy snow winters so we decided to traverse the milder snow level of three to four feet in Hope Valley. This choice made for a perfectly wonderful snowshoe hike along the meandering West Carson River.
The snow felt like walking on marshmallows, the bright sun warmed our winter blues as we followed the swift, icy river. Laughter and joy filled the trail while we embraced the grander of the valley and mountains.
